And that's why they remember everything!
This is my favorite video to show couples struggling with communication ... or who simply need a good laugh together.
Try watching it together with your spouse:
Here are a few takeaways for the guys:
- Listen without trying to fix.
- Show her that you care about her more than her troubles.
- Be careful not to put your wife into a box. She should be your partner in life. Learn to share what matters most.
- Understand that for a woman, everything effects everything. In other words, make sure she is in the right mood emotionally before talking about certain boxes.
Here are a few takeaways for the girls:
- Don't force your husband to share about every box. Rather, support him in the ways you know will best help him connect with you, and important sharing will come natural.
- Respect your husband's need to spend time doing nothing.
- Make sure he is ready and open to listen when you need him to.
- Tell him very directly if you need him just to listen or to help you do something. He often won't have a clue what you really need.
Obviously these are only a few. Mark has a way of helping us see life from it's hilarious perspectives. Grease your marital communication with laughter and you will find your way smoothly through difficult times.
